Desmond Llewelyn, who played the much loved Q in 17 James Bond films between 1963 and 1999, died on 19th December 1999 at the age of 85.

He died at Eastbourne District General Hospital after a car accident while driving home from a book signing. It was just a few weeks after the premiere of his final film, The World Is Not Enough.
