Ian Fleming’s 14th and final James Bond book, Octopussy & The Living Daylights, was first published in the UK on 23rd June 1966 by Jonathan Cape.
When originally published it consisted of two short stories about James Bond. The Living Daylights in particular stands out as a taught mini thriller. Current editions of the book also include The Property of a Lady and 007 in New York.

Louis Jourdan, who played Kamal Khan in Octopussy was born in Marseille, France on 19th June 1921.
James Bond co-producer Barbara Broccoli was born in Los Angeles on 18th June 1960.

The daughter of Cubby and Dana Broccoli is half-sister to Michael G Wilson with whom she shares co-producer credits on the recent James Bond films. The first Bond film she worked on was The Spy Who Loved Me, after which she worked up the ranks. From Goldeneye onwards Broccoli took on full producer credits with her half-brother.
As well as James Bond, Broccoli has been involved in producing stage productions such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Jeffery Deaver’s 007 continuation novel, Carte Blanche, was published in the United States by Simon & Schuster on 14th June 2011.

Jimmy Dean, who appeared in Diamonds Are Forever (1971) as billionaire Willard Whyte, died on 13th June 2010 at the age of 81. As well as a small number of television and film roles, Dean was known as a country music singer, TV host and founded the Jimmy Dean sausage brand with his brother.

Timothy Dalton’s second James Bond film premièred in London at the Odeon Leicester Square on 13th June 1989.

Sean Connery’s fifth outing as 007 premièred at the Odeon Leicester Square on 12th June 1967.
